Fresh Water Fishes Prices Go Stable As Market Supply Go Up

Weather turns cool in some of the China Area, fresh water supply begin to rise in aquatic product markets and their prices also go stable. Although trading prices drop slightly in whole compared with that in previous days, they are still higher compared with that of the same period in last year. One reason is that consumption peak is surely on the way as Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day are around corner. Another reason is that crucian and bream prices dropped about 1 yuan/500g recently, compared with that in July and August. Grass carp and silver carp price also decreased slightly recently, which would spur the market consumption.

For example, this week’s grass carp price in Guangdong province is almost same as that in last week, which goes stable with slight increase. Small size grass carp fry supply also increases, whose price is expected to decrease a little. The price drops 0.1-0.3 yuan/500g this week in some regions in Hunan, Hubei, and Yancheng, Jiangsu province. The reason is that summer fishing moratorium ends in China Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea and kinds of seafood march to market in large quantity, causing the sales drop of freshwater fishes whose price also begin to fall within a small range.

But for Tilapia, both Supply and demand are low, the farmer may all looking for better price.

We believe that in following months, it’s possible that four family fishes prices continue to drop, but are still higher than that in previous years. Grass carp and silver carp with the largest trading volume haven’t reach its peak market season. Local new grass carp has just been available on market and it takes time before silver carp goes to market. There is estimation that price gap of different sizes of different fishes(say tilapia fish ) will expand when fresh water peak season comes.
