American Market: more and more focus on product safety

Director of American National Fisheries Institute (NFI), John Connelly, stated on the forum that American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had rejected more than 300 batches of seafood product imported from China from 2015 to August 2016 as a result of antibiotics residue, forbidden drugs out of limits and unqualified product hygiene status. And tilapia was the kind of product with most problems that products from 23 Chinese tilapia exporters were found of antibiotics residue and forbidden drugs. The survey showed that 41.2% products were from Guangdong province while 35.3% from Guangxi province.

American Market Developing Director of Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), Chris Keller, said that China was still the largest origin place of seafood product for USA although Chinese tilapia export into American has met many obstacles in recent days. American consumers focuses more and more food safety. They wanted to know the final origin of place of the product, the producing and processing procedure of the imported seafood, whether they contained antibiotics, whether they were GMF(genetically modified food) and whether adulteration problem existed in the seafood.
