Sep: Overall Price Going Down but Average Price Higher Year on Year

As we know, Overall Tilapia price trend in September was stable, but price downward pressure was mounting in late September. On one hand, price simply went up as kinds of aquatic products rush to market during peak season; on the other hand, some producing areas don’t enjoy overwintering farming conditions so that local farmers showed considerable enthusiasm to sell the fish, which pushed the price adjustment. Besides, processors changed their procurement price recently, making the price unfavorable. As a result, some panicked farmers sold their fish in a hurry.

According to previous years’ China tilapia price index trend, downward trend was the general trend in Q4. But the downward pressure was not so much in the short term, 0.1 yuan/500g up or down in the following week.Actually, the price is quite different from Guangdong/Guangxi/Yunnan/Fujian.
